Mount Tai, the first of the "Five Sacred Mountains", is located in the central part of Shandong Province. It lies in the civilized land of the ancient states of Qi and Lu, with the Yellow River on the north and the sea on the east. A famous saying goes, "Scaling Taishan Mountain makes one feel superior to the whole world", as it creates a feeling of regal dignity and imperial majesty.
Historical records show that a total of 72 emperors of bygone dynasties, from the first Qin Emperor Shihuang onward, have made sacrifices to Taishan Mountain. This association with feudalism has earned the mountain a widespread fame. Nowadays, after repeated renovations, Mt Tai has become more enchanting than ever before. Mount Tai has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. In 2003, it attracted around 6 million visitors.
In total, there are 22 temples, 97 ruins, 819 stone tablets, and 1,018 cliff-side and stone inscriptions located on Mount Tai. A flight of 7,200 total steps (including inner temple steps), with 6,293 Official Mountain Walkway Steps, lead up the East Peak of Mount Tai, along its course, there are 11 gates, 14 archways, 14 kiosks, and 4 pavilions.

Qingdao, a beautiful seaside city, is located in the southeast part of Shandong Province. The geography of the city is relatively flat while mountains spur up nearby. The highest elevation in the area is 1133 m above sea level. The city has a 730.64-kilometre coastline. Five significant rivers that flow for more than 50 km can be found in the region. It was recently named China's 9th-most livable city by China Daily.

Azure Dragon

The Azure Dragon (traditional Chinese: 青龍; simplified Chinese: 青龙;) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. It is sometimes called the Azure Dragon of the East, and it represents the east and the spring season. It should not be confused with the mythological yellow dragon that is associated with the Emperor of China.

Vermilion Bird

The Vermilion Bird (Chinese: 朱雀) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. According to Wu Xing, the Taoist five-elemental system, it represents the fire-elemental, the direction of south, and the season summer correspondingly. Thus it is sometimes called the Vermilion Bird of the South. It is often mistaken for Fenghuang, but they are two different creatures. Fenghuang is the king of birds, while the Vermilion Bird is a mythological spirit creature of the Chinese constellations.

White Tiger

The White Tiger (Chinese: 白虎) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. It is sometimes called the White Tiger of the West, and it represents the west and the autumn season.

Black Tortoise

The Black Tortoise (Chinese: 玄武) is one of the Four Symbols of the Chinese constellations. The word for "tortoise" was taboo; and the entire entity is not just the tortoise itself, but both the tortoise and the snake. It is sometimes called the Black Warrior of the North, and it represents the north and the winter season. Although its name in is often translated as Black Tortoise in English, it is usually depicted as both a tortoise and a snake, specifically with the snake coiling around the tortoise.

Taiyuan is the capital city of Shanxi Province. It has a long history and in ancient times was an important military town. At present, Taiyuan is one of China's heavy industrial cities and account for more than half the national coal mining output.

Taiyuan is an ancient capital, constructed by Zhaojianzi in ca. 500 BC, named Jinyang. It was renamed Taiyuan in the Qin Dynasty. Several Emperors came from this city, therefore the other name of the city is "Dragon City". The most famous emperor is Li Shiming during Tang Dynasty. Many ancient Chinese poets were also from Taiyuan. In Tang Dynasty, Taiyuan was a secondary capital of China and a cultural center.
